Researchers Observe Axion Quasiparticles for the First Time

COS/ECE Associate Professor Kin Chung Fong and more than a dozen researchers from across the globe published “Observation of the Axion Quasiparticle in 2D MnBi2Te4 ” in Nature, revealing how they were able to observe axion quasiparticles for the first time, adding to their understanding of dark matter.

Unlocking the Secrets of Dark Matter With Graphene

ECE/COS Associate Professor Kin Chung Fong was awarded a $950,000 grant from the Department of Energy for “WIdeband graphene-based aXion dARk matter quantum Detector (WIXARD).”  Fong will explore using astrophysics to gain insights into dark matter.

Understanding Superconductivity With Graphene

ECE/COS Associate Professor Kin Chung Fong published research on “Superfluid Stiffness of Twisted Trilayer Graphene Superconductors” in Nature. Written in collaboration with researchers at Harvard and MIT, Fong uses ideas from resonant circuits to measure superfluid stiffness, providing deep insights into the nature of unconventional high-temperature superconductivity.
