ECE Student Receives Outstanding PhD Student Award in Research

Ruyi Ding, PhD’25, computer engineering, is the recipient of an Outstanding PhD Student Award in Research, which recognizes those who have shown an exceptional ability to conduct high-level research and make contributions to the scholarly literature in their fields.

Ding’s research focuses on hardware-software co-design for AI system security. Motivated by real-world threats such as model theft and adversarial attacks, he is investigating AI and cybersecurity through algorithm-system-hardware integration. Ding has explored GNN protection in trusted environments, attack detection via electromagnetic signals, and misuse prevention of pre-trained models. His research has been published at prestigious conferences such as NDSS, NeurIPS, and ICCV. He has also received the Distinguished Paper Award at ASIACCS.

Ding has accepted a tenure-track faculty position at Louisiana State University and is committed to fostering the next generation of tech innovators.
