Engineering is an exciting and evolving field. Engineers pioneer discoveries that shape society and can have a transformative impact on the world. As a student in the College of Engineering at Northeastern you will have the opportunity to personalize your path with five engineering departments, interdisciplinary majors, over 70 minors across seven colleges, and the PlusOne accelerated master’s program.

You will also have the opportunity for experiential learning—from laboratory exercises, senior design projects, professional association activities, and research with highly accomplished faculty, to cooperative education where you gain industry experience as part of the curriculum.

In and outside of the classroom you will be engaged. Our students participate in the College’s over 60 student organizations, national and global competitions, a vibrant entrepreneurship and business ecosystem, and a range of global experience options.

First Year Engineering

Designed to provide new students with tools they need to succeed at Northeastern, the First Year Engineering program exposes students to all engineering majors and includes a common first year curriculum, special seminars, and social activities as well as one-on-one mentoring with advisors.

A wide variety of academic tutoring services are available to undergraduate engineering students taking courses across engineering departments. Free, drop-in tutoring is also available for first-year engineering students in physics, calculus, chemistry, and general engineering courses.

Culminating their year-long Cornerstone of Engineering coursework, first-year engineering students at the London campus presented their innovative engineering team projects at the 2025 First-Year Engineering Cornerstone Design Expo.

Bioengineering Student Receives 2025 Compass Award

Gabrielle Rose Bailey, E’25, bioengineering and biochemistry, is a recipient of the 2025 Compass Award, which recognize exemplary students from the senior class who have demonstrated a true dedication to the core values of leadership, volunteerism, academic integrity, and a commitment to Northeastern.

CEE Student Receives GEM Engineering Fellowship

Nazira Cisse, E’24, environmental engineering, received a Graduate Education for Minorities (GEM) PhD Engineering Fellowship, which funds graduate studies in science and engineering for outstanding students from underrepresented communities.

ChE Student Receives 2025 Condit Award

Dhwani Bhatt, E’27, chemical engineering, won the Sears B. Condit Award, which is awarded annually to one student from each of Northeastern’s undergraduate day colleges and is one of the highest honors that a junior or senior at Northeastern University can receive.
