The Multidisciplinary Master of Science (MS) programs integrate engineering solutions from the fields of technology and business by developing technical and engineering skills through advanced course work and complex technical projects in the areas of software, data, and network systems. Each program focuses on the application of knowledge and skills to business and industrial settings.
The programs blend academic and corporate experience to enable students to enhance their professional capabilities, thereby facilitating career transformation. Given an applied focus, each program provides learning opportunities to develop the skills needed to create innovative, practical, and effective solutions that can be easily applied to current professional challenges.
These programs are designed to prepare students for direct entry into the workforce. Students who are seeking preparation for entry into PhD programs should consider specific department MS programs aligned with their research interests.

World-Renowned Cooperative Education
The Cooperative Education Program at Northeastern University, also known as a “co-op,” is one of the largest and most innovative in the world, and Northeastern is one of only a few that offers a Co-op Program for Graduate Students. Through this program students gain industry experience in a wide variety of organizations, from large companies to entrepreneurial start-ups, while helping to finance their education.
In addition to our Boston campus, some master’s programs are offered across our global university network such as in Seattle Washington, Silicon Valley in California, Toronto, Canada, and more.
Over 15 graduate certificates are available to provide students the opportunity to develop a specialization in an area of their choice. Certificates can be taken in addition to or in combination with a master’s degree, or provide a pathway to a master’s degree in Northeastern’s College of Engineering. Master’s programs can also be combined with a Gordon Engineering Leadership certificate. Students should consult with their faculty advisor regarding these options.
Graduate program courses are offered as traditional full-time, and some offer part-time, online, and hybrid options.

Xinyi Wei, MS’25, information systems, is integrating a background in psychology with information systems skills she is developing through the MS Information Systems-Bridge program at Northeastern’s Seattle Campus.
