BioE PhD Receives Outstanding PhD Student Award in Leadership

Deng Li, PhD’25, bioengineering, received the Outstanding PhD Student Award in Leadership, which recognizes graduate students who have demonstrated significant leadership and a deep commitment to giving back to members of Northeastern’s community or surrounding neighborhoods.
Working in the lab of BioE Assistant Professor Mona Minkara, Li mentors and guides undergraduate and junior graduate students in their research projects. His research focuses on computational modeling of critical biomolecular interactions with an emphasis on how immune proteins recognize pathogenic glycans, ultimately informing new therapeutic strategies for infectious diseases. In his free time, Li pursues his passion for the outdoors through hiking and running. He has climbed a third of Taiwan’s top 100 mountains, each rising above 3,000 meters.
